I hadn't realised it was more than a week between entries, granted... the fact that my computer was dead for the longest time didn't help matters at all.
Good news, my computer was fixed this weekend. Finally! It needed a format and complete reinstallation of Windows, but it's working and I can use all my applications and stuff again, so I'm happy.
Friday was Joe Egg and that was really great. We initially thought we were late, due to thinking the show started at 7pm and needing to pick up our car from the garage and drop off the rental car and catch a train all within the space of an hour, which of course is never enough time. Missed the Hawthorne train, drove to White Plains and missed that one too. Caught the next train, and found out the show was at 8pm instead, so all was well.

So Sunday night we went to see X-Men 2, which kicked even more ass than the first one. Hugh Jackman as Wolverine *drool*. The visual effects for the Nightcrawler were really good, coloured smoke-like whisps where he'd appear and disappear, very nice indeed. I can't wait til the next movie, but if the time between the first and second one is indicative, it'll be 2006 before the third installment *sob*.
They had an interview with Hugh Jackman on Letterman Tuesday night too which was interesting, he's apparantly the lead in The Boy From Oz on Broadway right now, which sounds good. PreZ actually saw it back in Oz, and liked it, so he might be up for a repeat performance.
Cherie wants us to go and see Eddie Izzard's play on Broadway too, A Day In The Death Of Joe Egg. A tentative date is the 16th, next week. Sounds good.
My birthday is just over a week after that, and I'd love to go get rush tickets to see Baz Luhrmann's La Bohème. Wheee...

I was supposed to go down to NJ on Tuesday for another session, but due to my getting the front corner of the bumper caught behind the steel cables in the yard and ripping it almost clean off the car that idea went down the toilet pretty quickly. I hadn't finished all the basting yet, so I did get most of that done at home instead.
Wednesday afternoon we took the car to the dealership for them to look at and to schedule an appointment to have it fixed. We'll be forking over a hefty $725 for a new bumper cover. Ouch.
Because the car is still driveable I decided to go down to NJ on Wednesday to do some work, and we actually got quite a lot done. We have stitched nearly all of the boning channels with the exception of 2 each on the silver fabric pieces. Those will get done when I go down there today. Then it's onto things like the busk, which I hear is a pain in the ass and time consuming thing to do.
My computer is still not fixed. Parts arrived on Monday and PreZ did all kinds of stuff. Apparantly there are issues with the refurbished motherboard they sent us as a replacement too, and for good measure we rma'd the cpu as well. Hopefully when this stuff arrives early next week it will be the last of the parts replacing... I think we've almost run out of stuff to replace by now, it's down to the hdd and the video card.

Friday PreZ joined me for the weekly corset session... well, what used to be the weekly corset evening until graduation started to loom closer, as well as the end of costume shop use. He needed to be fitted for the jacket Kit is making for him, which is why his presence was required.

So Tuesday I met up with Kit in NYC after his portfolio showing to pick up some corset supplies.
Continuing the theme of craptacular luck with transport the train to the city was late by about 10+ minutes due to track work, and then when I actually got to Grand Central I couldn't get a subway train to Times Square because there was something going on down in the subway station. I'm not sure what happened, there were a few firemen and they had cordoned off the area and said that there were no trains. So I had to walk the couple avenue blocks to Port Authority, making me later than I already was.
We met up with PreZ for lunch, had lunch and then went and picked up corset bones and a busk. After that we headed down to the Lower East Side so I could have more needles stuck in me for my second set of lobe holes. This pair courtesy of Tyler at NY Adorned. They're both still a little tender 2 days on, the left one more so than the right as that is the one I'm sleeping on... right ear is completely off limits with the industrial still healing in there. The industrial is doing fine, no problems there. After the hole poking we went back up to the fashion district to try and find lining material for Kit's jacket and finally succeeded. Picked PreZ up at work and headed home.
Tuesday saw the new addition to the family as my cousin Lex and his wife Jannie welcomed their first child Corné into the world. A little boy... born also on my grandmother's birthday, so I think a new great-grandchild was a real treat for her.
Wednesday I headed down to NJ to do some work on the corset. Slow going this time... drawing out the patterns onto the coutil and then drawing in the bone channels on the pattern pieces. We got the pattern pieces drawn and cut, and then some of them have the boning channels transferred onto them. Not much to show for a few hours work really.
Friday we should hopefully get a few more hours in. We're also going to see a show that Cherie did the costumes for at her school, then grab some dinner afterwards. PreZ needs to do a fitting for his jacket as well. I want to get some real work done too, hopefully a few hours won't be too much to expect. Kit also asked if I wanted to work on Saturday, which is tempting. The school year is winding down for them both, and they won't have keys to the shop forever, so better to get as much done as soon as possible.
