The weekend meant the arrival of nearly all our ordered goodies. The books came and all bar one of the dvd's which is on backorder I believe (Priscilla, Queen of the Desert).

Saturday afternoon was a trip down to Jersey to hang out with Kit and Cherie. They've been packing like crazy since it was a possibility that Jerry the psychopath housemate was rumoured to be coming back on the weekend and hellbent on making their lives miserable. They went to see a new place on Sunday, but so far no word as to whether they got the place or not. Fingers crossed that they hear word soon and that it's good news.

We went out for food, spent lots of time chatting away, Cherie sewed slipcovers for our chairbacks and we assembled those finally (and the chairs on sunday), Kit fitted PreZ for his jacket which is coming along very nicely. After that we watched Vanilla Sky, which I'd not seen before, but was certainly a mindblowing movie. I really enjoyed it, much fun.

Next up this week seems to be a lot of crap involving a turkey and non-blood relatives *grr*. I'm supposed to be doing the turkey, but after some cryptic message on my AIM from one said relative who logged off without being clearer I'm not too sure what's going on. Sometimes it's good when people cut out the bullshit and come to the point, rather than leaving me hanging (don't have contact details) waiting to find out if I can actually start defrosting the bloody bird or not.

I'm pondering new site design options, as I'll probably end up doing that before a GOTH.NET submissions update...

One is an image I want to use and another is a theme/phrase I want to use, and I'm not sure which one is going to win out at the moment for the main design. I think probably the phrase with a fitting theme for now.

I think I'll be basing my new GreyMatter journal design on a Voodoo Veve painting I have though. So Damballah will be the inspiration for the next design of this page methinks.

More work done on Majick's Mini Beast site, which is good, tomorrow I'll finish up the Gallery and that should be it until I get some further information before I pass it over. Yay!

I hadn't realised it had been so long since I'd posted in here. Okay, 12 days isn't *that* long.

It's been fairly quiet here. I've done some more work on the Mini Beasts site, I've uploaded it in its current state to /minibeasts in case there are curious beings. With the content I still have it shouldn't be too much work to finish it off. There's still some missing content, and parts will be completed by others (survey and forums).

We went and saw Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets tonight which I enjoyed a lot. I've been looking forward to the second installment of this and also Lord of the Rings, of course. Makes you realise how fast years can pass too. The movie was definitely a lot darker than the first, and I think some of the schemier moments with Malfoy sr. would have gone over the heads of younger kids... and there's probably going to be a few kids with spider nightmares after this ;) But it was fun, there were a lot of humourous moments to intersperse the more serious action things. Kenneth Brannagh played an amusing smarmy fraudulent professor. It will be interesting to see who they get to replace Richard Harris as Dumbledore now as he passed away in October :(

I should find out soon if I get to host the family Thanksgiving... PreZ wanted to invite his aunt, cousin and her kids over for Turkey day this year. That should be interesting. I think I'm going to need extra cookware though, because I don't have enough pots and pans and the like to host anything elaborate... not to mention that we have cutlery place settings for 4 people (though steak knives for about 18).

Oh, I set up a livejournal today too. It's mainly so I don't have to post as an anonymous user when I respond to friends' posts. Plus I guess I can use it as one of those places to post quiz results too ;) and other miscellaneous stuff. Thanks to Nota for the code!

Next weekend should include a fitting day with Kit and Cherie, both have been working on the mock-ups for PreZ and my outfits, the outfits by way of a wedding present (even though our 1 year anniversary is at the end of the month *grin*). Cherie has restyled my jacket to a 18th century riding jacket design, like the red one worn by Emilie Dequenne (Marianne de Morangias) in Brotherhood of the Wolf (I'll post a picture sometime). Speaking of Brotherhood of the Wolf, I ordered the Canadian version of the dvd which has 3 discs instead of the single disc US version. Apparantly the video transfer isn't as good as the US one, but then there's a hell of a lot more extras to make up for it. I'm really looking forward to seeing that movie again. Hopefully it will arrive here before the weekend so I can take it with us to Cherie as reference material.

Other than that, all's quiet :)

I forgot to mention the other day that we bought tickets to Tori Amos' March concert at Radio City Music Hall. There is also a concert in just over a week and a half, but that was already sold out, so we couldn't get tickets to see that. It would have been preferable as PreZ generally has bowling on Thursdays, and the March concert is on a Thursday, whereas the November one is on a Wednesday.

Anticipating seeing Tori playing live.

Listening to tracks from Tori's new cd Scarlet's Walk.

Pondering directions to take for new design with my personal site.

Wishing I could have slept on time tonight rather than wake an hour or two after going to bed and knowing I'll be awake for a good few more before I fall into bed again.

Needing to finish the GOTH.NET FAQ, Majick's Mini-Beasts site and updating GOTH.NET.

Worrying about my dad, who says he's doing okay, when I know he's not... and wishing there was a way (or an easier one) to open up some kind of dialogue that will touch on those issues, when I know he's not fond of talking about how he feels and I know he probably doesn't want to discuss issues from the past months/few years with one of his own kids.

Reading from The Sandman: Book of Dreams anthology and The Masterpieces of Shirley Jackson.

Seeing sites by people that are so very talented, that make me wish I could do what they do.

Wanting to live up to expectations of a person dear to me.

Forcing myself to shut up now ;)

Today (Friday) a trip into NYC. I started off by meeting PreZ for lunch, so I got to see where he worked, which was a small little company, a lot smaller than I expected, sharing office space with another company. It's nice to know where he works though, and see a few of the people there as well.

The main reason for the trip, which coincided with me being able to use PreZ's last day on his weekly trainticket, because his monthly ticket kicked in and he had it 'spare' (or that day at least), was to pick up fabric so I can get the dining chair backs upholstered. We didn't have enough fabric for that last time so I got some more. Due to the other pattern no longer existing, which I knew, we now have one in the same colours but with a different pattern, honey bees instead of the other one which looks more like a cross between a fly and fleur-de-lis (we dubbed it fly-de-lis).

Kit also needed fabric, so we arranged to meet up in the city. We managed to get fabric for the jacket he is making for PreZ, so that project can advance. A busy but fruitful day... and I have sore leg muscles from all the walking we did.
